これは倒置になっており、元に戻すなら、

まあ、元に戻しても意味をくみ取るのは難しいのだが、この「only after」に注意が必要。
「１世紀半の混乱の後、やっと国王の権威が回復された」というように、「やっと」となる。
もし、
After only a century and a half of confusion, the royal authority was restored.
ならば、「たった１世紀半で〜」という意味になる。
「only after〜」と「after only〜」の違いに注意。倒置の話と重なると余計分かりにくい。
